Matale Hindu National College is a government national boys’ school serving the Tamil community of Matale and surrounding areas.
The documented history of the institution begins in 1930, when it operated as a Christian Missionary School at Mandandawela. Following the demolition of the original building, the school was transferred to Kandasamy Mixed School in 1934.
In 1966, a 4.5-acre site was selected for the present school. The college later developed into an institution providing education from Grade 1 to Grade 13.
Today, Matale Hindu National College continues its educational service by promoting academic learning, discipline, Tamil cultural identity, leadership, sports and community responsibility.
